New Dimensions specializes in helping adults who are struggling with both mental health and substance abuse issues. Our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP) for adults with co-occurring or dual diagnosis issues is designed to help individuals develop the tools that they need to effectively manage the struggles of life without having to use alcohol or other substances to cope.
The mental health portion of our programs is designed to be intensive and to supplement the individual and family therapy that a person may already be receiving. Treatment is completely individualized and focuses on the issues that matter most to each person.
While in the program, individuals learn how to identify the underlying causes of their emotional struggles and are given the support they need to heal unresolved emotional pain, losses, and traumas. Clients also learn effective coping strategies, communication strategies, anger management strategies, and conflict resolution skills.
The substance abuse portion of our dual diagnosis program is a 12-step-based evening program that is designed to allow individuals the opportunity to begin the treatment process and develop the knowledge they need for long-term recovery and lasting sobriety. Individuals learn about the disease concept of addiction and about the effects that addiction has on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual functioning.
While in the program, you will learn the skills you need to manage the triggers that lead to relapse and develop the support network you need to maintain sobriety. Through the mutual support of other individuals in the group, clients and families frequently gain a renewed sense of hope and healing.
The overall goal of our adult dual diagnosis program is to help individuals cope with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Our programs are designed to help individuals develop lasting sobriety and develop the skills they need to cope with a variety of mental health issues without using substances.
Our adult dual diagnosis programs specialize in helping adults overcome a variety of issues, including:
- Alcohol and/or drug abuse
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic Attacks
- Trauma
- Low self-esteem
- Obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors (OCD)
- Bipolar disorder
- Thoughts of suicide
- PTSD
- Severe Stress and Burnout
The dual diagnosis program uses a holistic approach that helps clients resolve issues from a mind, body, and spirit perspective. Clients attend a variety of groups throughout the day or evening depending on which part of the program they are attending.
Upon admission, the treatment team works with individuals to create a specific treatment plan that addresses those problems that affect the client the most. This highly focused approach is designed to allow clients to make significant changes in the shortest amount of time possible.
