IOP and PHP for OCD that is In-Network with United Healthcare and Optum

Apr 27, 2026 | Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often a silent struggle, characterized by a relentless loop of intrusive thoughts and the exhausting compulsions used to quiet them. When these patterns begin to consume hours of your day, making it impossible to focus at work or be present with your family, standard outpatient therapy may not be enough to break the cycle.

At New Dimensions Day Treatment Centers, we specialize in providing the intensive, evidence-based care required to treat severe OCD. We are proud to be an In-Network Provider with United Healthcare (UHC) and Optum for our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

If you are a United Healthcare member in the Greater Houston area, you have access to a structured environment where you can learn to manage OCD symptoms and regain your independence.

Targeted OCD Treatment: Understanding PHP and IOP

United Healthcare and Optum prioritize “the right level of care” to ensure patients receive effective treatment without unnecessary hospitalization. New Dimensions offers two tiers of specialized OCD support:

  1. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our OCD PHP is our most intensive outpatient track. It is designed for individuals whose compulsions have severely limited their ability to function in daily life.

  • The Structure: Typically 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
  • The Goal: Providing a highly structured environment for rapid stabilization and intensive skill-building.
  1. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our OCD IOP is a flexible “step-down” or early intervention program. It is ideal for those who are stable but still find OCD interfering with their professional or personal success.

  • The Structure: Typically 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.
  • The Goal: Practicing exposure and response prevention skills while maintaining daily responsibilities.

The “Gold Standard” Approach: ERP and CBT

When you utilize your United Healthcare benefits at New Dimensions, you are engaging in the most effective treatments known for OCD. Our clinicians specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Through ERP, we help you gradually face the thoughts or situations that trigger your anxiety without performing the compulsions. Over time, your brain learns that the “danger” isn’t real, and the urge to perform compulsions weakens. We also integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you move toward a life defined by your values, not your fears.

Why Choose an In-Network UHC/Optum Provider?

Navigating the financial side of mental health should not be another source of stress. Choosing an in-network provider like New Dimensions offers several advantages for United Healthcare members:

Financial Transparency and Savings

Because we are in-network, we have a contracted agreement with United Healthcare regarding service rates. This means your co-pays and deductibles are based on these lower, pre-negotiated rates, protecting you from “balance billing” and high out-of-network costs.

Coordinated Care with Optum

Optum, the behavioral health branch of UHC, emphasizes clinical outcomes. Our team works directly with Optum to ensure your treatment is authorized quickly and that your progress is documented according to the high standards they expect for OCD care.
