For many, the struggle with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a hidden battle fought within the confines of the mind. When intrusive thoughts and repetitive compulsions begin to take up hours of each day, standard weekly therapy can feel like trying to empty an ocean with a teaspoon. To break the cycle of OCD, a more intensive, structured clinical approach is often necessary.
At New Dimensions Day Treatment Centers, we are committed to providing that high-level intervention. We are proud to be an In-Network Provider with Aetna for our Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for OCD.
If you are an Aetna policyholder in the Greater Houston area, you have access to specialized care designed to help you face your fears and reclaim your life.
The Path to Mastery: Understanding PHP and IOP for OCD
Aetna recognizes that severe OCD requires a higher “dosage” of therapy to be effective. At New Dimensions, we offer two primary tiers of outpatient support to meet you where you are in your recovery.
-
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our OCD PHP is our most intensive outpatient option. It is designed for individuals who are currently unable to work or attend school because their compulsions have become all-consuming.
- The Structure: Meets 6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- The Goal: Intensive stabilization and daily guided practice to reduce the severity of symptoms quickly.
-
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our OCD IOP is ideal for those who are functioning but still feel “stuck” in their rituals. It serves as an excellent step-down from a hospital stay or a step-up for those not progressing in traditional therapy.
- The Structure: Meets 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- The Goal: Generalizing your coping skills so you can maintain your progress in your home and work environments.
The “Gold Standard” Treatment: ERP
When you utilize your Aetna benefits at New Dimensions, you are engaging in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the most effective evidence-based treatment for OCD.
Under the guidance of our specialized clinicians, you will learn to:
- Identify Triggers: Recognize the thoughts or situations that spark your obsessions.
- Face the Anxiety: Gradually expose yourself to those triggers in a safe, controlled environment.
- Prevent the Response: Resist the urge to perform the compulsion.
Over time, through a process called habituation, your brain learns that the perceived threat is not actually dangerous, and the intrusive thoughts lose their power over you.
Why Choose an In-Network Aetna Provider?
Navigating the financial aspects of mental health care shouldn’t be as difficult as the disorder itself. Choosing an in-network provider like New Dimensions offers several advantages for Aetna members:
Financial Predictability
Because we are in-network with Aetna, we have a contracted agreement on service rates. This means your co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance are clearly defined by your Aetna plan, and you are protected from the high costs associated with “out-of-network” care.
Clinical Quality Assurance
Aetna maintains rigorous standards for its in-network providers. Our programs are designed to meet these high clinical benchmarks, ensuring you receive the sophisticated, evidence-based care you deserve.
Seamless Benefit Management
Our intake team works directly with Aetna to handle all clinical authorizations. We ensure that your Aetna benefits are used efficiently so that your treatment remains uninterrupted.
